What I learned here is that you've got to be careful about the 14th if it's a new years spring. May it be february, march, april or may (and I guess there was also something for june) there's allways a special occasion.
Starting with February 14th, which is -no surprises so far- Valentines Day...
Old story, so I won't need to explain, little difference: Only girls give their guys presents (mostly candy)...
Payback day then follows on March 14th as it is White Day and the girls get their gifts from boys.
(As on my working place it seams that either the men there have multiple girlsfriends at work or, which seems to just make more sense and which was told to me by a college that men buy little candy gifts to their female coworkers... So as my one college and I once again ended up in a shop to buy some candy it was that in front of her eyes, just a blink before she could grab it a man took out all of the toffifee chocolates and went to the counter, leaving my college with an open mouth and disbeliev in her eyes...)
| let's give you an idea of the plain folly... |
As far that asian candy chaos tradition is often already known in europe ...
but here it comes:
April 14th (which as you know is just up tomorrow) is Jiajangmyung Day!
All those not having boyfriends and/ or not receiving candy on one of the days already mentioned are going out having jiajangmyung, which is an originally chinese noodles dish that was a bit modifies in Korea. It's yummy black bean noodles.
| I guess I'll just import this tradition and highlight it in my calendar each and every year may there be a boyfriend or not... |
I love it since my last time in Korea, so how should I care even if I got a present (though rather as a joke under friends than from a boyfriend), of course I'm completely up on this!!
Then on June 14th there is Kiss Day. I don't have an idea what's happening there in detail but I guess it's just a romantic date for lovers which results in a kiss... at least if going well... or not, well, if you know more, just enlighten me...
